The 22nd European Youth Championship in Malmö is over. It was dominated by the Swedish team as the host nation collected 13 medals. 30 nations participated and the medals were shared among ten countries. Denmark, Sweden and Latvia were most successful among boys. The Swedish girls played very well throughout the whole tournament and took eight medals. In her first international appearance, 17-year-old Elin Adolfsson from Sweden won medals in every event. She walked away with five medals: two gold, one silver and two bronze. Among the boys, 16-year-old Latvian Arturs Levikins and Mik Stampe from Denmark each won four medals. See you next year in Saint Maximin, France! Mattias Jansson from Sweden used games of 225 and 200 to defeat Arturs Levikins of Latvia in the Masters final. It was the first gold medal for the Swedish boys team, and with this victory Mattias copied his father Raymond who won the EYC Masters title 25 years ago. The bronze medals went to Carsten Hansen, Denmark, and Tony Ranta, Finland. |

Carmen Handrickmann from the Netherlands was unstoppable in Masters event. In the final, the Dutch girl defeated Elin Adolfsson from Sweden 2-0. Handrickmann won her first match by 2-1, then swept the remaining four matches and averaged 229,9 over eleven games. The bronze medals went to Laura Ellis of England and Sandra Matz from Germany. |

With the boys Masters step 2 completed, the stage is now set for quarterfinals both boys and girls. Remaining in the boys division are three Swedish players, two from Finland and one player each from Denmark, Estonia and Latvia. |
